Montana Primary – Absentee Ballots are Out!

Yesterday I received my absentee ballot in the mail for the MT Primary.  Though I must admit that I like voting absentee much less than going to the polls myself, I mailed my ballot in yesterday.  Few of the races were contested, but all that were have significant implications.  Voting in the primary can really make a difference since it sets the tone for each party in the general election come November.  For example, many local races are between moral conservatives (who are 100% pro-life, respect the dignity of the person, our Constitution, etc.) and those who are libertarian conservatives (those who, for example, only care about fiscal conservatism, but not the life of unborn children).  If you have received your absentee ballot, please take it seriously and research the candidates.  Montana Family Foundation has a scorecard from last session that might be helpful for reviewing incumbents.

One of the forgotten races, a seat on the MT Supreme Court, will be a very important and I voted for Kristen Juras.  We were honored to have an interview with Mrs. Juras last fall and we recommend you read it since the Supreme Court election is non-partisan.  (As a point of information, there will be a final vote in the November general election for this Supreme Court seat.)

The Montana Gubernatorial race should prove to be quite interesting this Fall.  I voted for Mr. Greg Gianforte who, I believe, should have no difficulty securing the Republican nomination.  Freedom’s Discourse hopes to interview Greg this Summer and if anyone is interested in meeting him in person, please contact info@freedomsdiscourse.com for more details.

Locally, I voted for Tom Burnett for HD 67.  He served our district well last session and he is both pro-life and fiscally conservative.

As for the Republican candidate for the President of the United States of America, I had a number of choices, but Donald Trump is the only candidate still in the race.  This is disheartening to say the least, so I voted for “No Preference” in hopes that my vote will unite with others in showing our dissatisfaction for Mr. Trump’s political platform as well as his ad hominem attacks and egregious personality.
